Studio portrait of VX42674 Private (Pte) Thomas James Williams, 2/29 Infantry Battalion. A road transport operator from Warragul, Victoria prior to enlistment on 12 July 1940, Pte Williams was later promoted to Acting Corporal and captured in Singapore. Whilst held as a prisoner of war of the Japanese in Burma, he died of illness on 2 December 1943 and was buried in the Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery, Burma (now Myanmar).
