Studio portrait of 7838 Private (Pte) Arthur John Goodwin, 9th Battalion, in uniform with his eldest Arthur Langley Goodwin wearing a replica uniform. A twenty-five year old father of two with another child on the way at the time of his enlistment on 24 July 1917, Pte Goodwin embarked from Sydney with the 26th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 31 October 1917. He was killed in action in France on 11 August 1918 and has no known grave. His is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
