Description
Informal portrait of Second Lieutenant Raymond "Mick" Woolan. Mick Woolan was in the seventh intake of National Servicemen in April 1967. He was sent to officer training at Scheyville which he completed in October 1967. He was awarded the Military Cross for an operation on 27 May 1969 where Woolan demonstrated courage and leadership in directing his platoon while repulsing an attack in the Courtenay rubber plantation. Outnumbered by the Viet Cong, the Australians ultimately forced them to withdraw.
