Studio portrait of Lieutenant Commander (Lt Cdr) Lindsay Macliver. Macliver enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy as a cadet midshipman on 1 January 1926. He was promoted from Lieutenant to Lt Cdr on 1 January 1943 while serving aboard the HMAS Quiberon. Lt Cdr Macliver died on 11 May 1943. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) for bravery and skill in action against an Italian convoy of ships on 2 April 1943.
