Studio portrait of NX52442 Private (Pte) Henry Oxley Roberts, 2/12 Field Ambulance. Pte Roberts, from Newcastle, New South Wales, enlisted on 11 November 1941 just after his 21st birthday. He was lost at sea whilst aboard Australian Hospital Ship Centaur, which was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine on 14 May 1943. Of the 332 people on board, only 64 survived.
