Description
Studio portrait of 4490 Private (Pte) Charles Henry, 10th Battalion. A native of London, England, Pte Henry was a surveyor from Waverley, NSW prior to enlistment and embarked with the 14th Reinforcements from Adelaide on HMAT Miltiades on 11 January 1916. Whilst serving in Belgium he was killed in action on 7 October 1917 near Passchendaele, aged 32, and was buried near where he fell. His remains were later exhumed and re-interred in the Tyne Cot British Cemetery, Belgium.
