Description
Studio portrait of 3254 Private (Pte) Walter Henry Coulter, 3rd Battalion. A pastry cook from Ashfield, NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Coulter embarked with the 11th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Euripides on 2 November 1915. Subsequently transferring to the 53rd Battalion and then to the 56th Battalion, he was wounded in action and, on 20 July 1916, aged 23, he died as a result of his wounds and was buried in the Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, France.
