King, Bruce Joseph Charles
A digital file (PDF) consisting of a 51-page typed illustrated manuscript titled "BOUGAINVILLE 1944-1945. Bougainville as one soldier saw it and lived it. His mission and his stories", written and compiled in 2011 by NX192276 Private (Pte) Bruce King. It includes descriptions and photographs of his experiences whilst serving with the Australian Army in Bougainville during the Second World War. Pte King's manuscript questions whether the Military's objectives were achieved in Bougainville, and whether it was worth the loss of life and wounding of so many young Australian servicemen. Also includes a one page Preface in which Bruce King explains his motivation for writing his manuscript, as well as a collection of stories collected by him from other soldiers also in Bougainville at the time, written under the pseudonym of 'Kanga'. Paper copy available for access.
