Collection relating to the Second World War service of 11061 Warrant Officer Harold Victor Adams, 43 Squadron, 112 Air-Sea Rescue Squadron, and 20 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, Australia and New Guinea, 1942-1945.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one log book of Warrant Officer Harold Victor Adams, containing entries dated between December 1942 and November 1945. This log book covers the period of Warrant Officer Adams’ training, and service as a flight engineer with 43 Squadron, 112 Air-Sea Rescue Squadron, and 20 Squadron in Australia and New Guinea. The log book entries record dates and times of flights, aircraft types and numbers, pilots, duties, and purposes of flights. Some of the recorded purposes of flights include operational training, engineering instruction, transportation, bombing operations on enemy targets, mine laying, reconnaissance, aircraft tests, air-sea rescue, and patrols.

History / Summary

Warrant Officer Harold Victor Adams enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 17 July 1940. After years of training as a flight engineer, he joined No. 43 Squadron in November 1943. With this unit, Warrant Officer Adams served in Queensland, the Northern Territory, and New Guinea. He went on to serve with No 112 Air-Sea Rescue Squadron and No. 20 Squadron, and was discharged on 15 December 1945.
