Identified from left to right, in the back row are: NX47057 Sergeant (Sgt) Erle Percy Vallentine (later Lieutenant); VX39543 Sgt Hugh Gillespie (later Staff Sergeant); NX65775 Sgt Rupert Ingram Petchell; NX28467 Sgt Bertie Tate, DCM (died at sea 15 September 1944 as a POW); NX30078 Sgt Samuel John Barton (later Warrant Officer Class II (WO II)); NX20572 Acting Sgt Alexander Roland Campbell Johnstone; and NX19965 Sgt Wallace Anthony Shaw (later WO II).
