Description

Studio portrait of 1068 Bugler Clifford Labram, 4th Field Ambulance. A labourer from Southwark, SA prior to enlistment, Bugler Labram embarked from Melbourne on 22 December 1914 aboard HMAT Berrima. After serving at Gallipoli, he went to France in June 1916, was taken ill and evacuated to England for medical treatment. After returning to France, he transferred to the 50th Battalion and was wounded in action. Later promoted to Lance Corporal he was awarded a Military Medal for bravery in treating and rescuing wounded soldiers at Zonnebeke, Belgium on 26 September 1917. Subsequently wounded in action on 13 October 1917, he died from his wounds the next day. He is buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium. See also P09291.071.
