Studio portrait of Matron Christense Sorensen, holding a fly swat and wearing a net covered hat. Inscribed "Sorry's Love". Matron Sorensen was appointed to the Australian Army Nursing Service on 10 November 1914 and was posted to Cairo, the Middle East and served on the British hospital ship, Guildford Castle. Due to the trying conditions of her service she returned to Australian in February 1917. Soon after she was posted to No. 60 British General Hospital in Salonika. Matron Sorensen was awarded the Royal Red Cross (1st class) and the French Médaille d'Honneur des Epidemies in 1919.
