Studio portrait of 893 Private (Pte) James Charles Edward Osmond, 42nd Battalion. A cream tester from Woodford, Queensland prior to enlistment, Pte Osmond embarked with D Company from Sydney on HMAT Borda on 5 June 1916. Later promoted to Temporary Corporal, he was killed in action in France on 25 August 1918, aged 20, and was buried in the Bronfay Farm Military Cemetery, Bray-sur-Somme, France. .
