Studio portrait of 5849 Private (Pte) William Gordon Parsons, 10th Battalion. A labourer from Morchard, SA prior to enlistment, Pte Parsons embarked with the 18th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Barambah on 27 June 1916. Later transferring to the 48th Battalion he was listed as missing in action in France. A subsequent Court of Enquiry established that he had been killed in action on 11 April 1917. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
