Studio portrait of 429655 Flying Officer (FO) Alan Henry Francis, a former school teacher of Melbourne, Victoria. FO Francis enlisted in the RAAF on 16 October 1942 and later served in 460 Squadron. He was killed in operations over Germany on 18 November 1944 and is buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery near Kleve in Germany. FO Francis was a brother to Sergeant Edgar Davy Francis RAAF who was accidentally killed in England on 18 August 1942.
