Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of TX3745 Lance Coporal Adye Glen Rockliff who served with the 2/3 Machine Gun Battalion. Consists of a 116 page bound memoir titled 'The War Time Memories of Adye Rockliff' by Adye Glen Rockliff. LCpl Rockliff describes his wartime experiences training in Australia, and his service in Palestine and Syria and Java, where he was captured by the Japanese. Rockliff spent 18 months on the Thai-Burma Railway before being transferred to Japan where he worked in an undersea coal mine. Includes photographs and maps.
