Page 8 of sketchbook relating to the service of Sgt Arthur Joseph Wilesmith (QX7653) 2/2 Machine Gun Battalion. Of this image Wilesmith wrote on the interleaving sheet 'Davy Robinson and Dick Neal two of my section caught some carpet snakes one day - no not "pink ones". So I let my mind wonder a little and this was the result.' His caption "BACK TO THE M.E. (Middle East) AGAIN. DIGGER: What's he got that I ain't got? " Depicted are two topless soldiers snake charming on a Persian carpet set against a desert landscape. In the lower right is a belly dancer.
