Studio portrait of the Allshorn family, of Melbourne, Victoria. From left: Emma Esther Dorothy Allshorn; her brother 1712 Private (Pte) Frank Horace Frederick Allshorn, 7th Battalion; her father 5 Farrier Quartermaster Sergeant (FQMS) Frank Horace Allshorn, 13th Light Horse Regiment; her brother Charles Buller White Allshorn and her mother Emma Elizabeth Allshorn. Father and son enlisted on the same day, 7 January 1915. FQMS Allshorn died of endocarditis, following typhoid, on 28 February 1916 at Heliopolis, aged 41. Pte Allshorn survived the war to return in 1919.
