Description
Six low flying Japanese Army Kawasaki Ki-48 twin-engined light bomber aircraft (Allied code name 'Lily') during an air raid over Darwin on 20 June 1943. During this raid RAAF Spitfire squadrons intercepted the formation of 21 Japanese bombers and 21 fighters, shooting down nine bombers and five fighters in what became the most successful engagement by the RAAF in the defence of Darwin.
