Studio portrait of Sister Winifred Jeffreys, a staff nurse with the Hospital Transport Corps. A nurse prior to enlisting on 31 October 1916, Sister Jeffreys embarked for overseas on 18 November 1916 from Fremantle, WA, aboard No 2 Hospital Ship (HS) Kanowna on 25 September 1917. She served in England with the 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital and was attached to HS Kanowna for a period. Following leave to Australia, Sister Jeffreys served at the 1st Australian Auxillary Hospital at Harefield, England. She returned to Australia on 7 February 1919.
