Studio portrait of 2208A Private Weldon James Morgan. A farmer from Essendon, Victoria, prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne with the 6th Battalion aboard HMAT Wandilla (A62) on 17 June 1915. He was promoted to Lance Corporal (L Cpl) on 20 September 1917. L Cpl Morgan was killed in action in Belgium on 4 October 1917. He was 34 years old. Three other brothers from the Morgan family enlisted in and survived the First World War.
