Description

Ops-core made 'FAST' model combat helmet fitted with a forward mount for 50/50 Night Vision Goggles (NVG). The helmet has a large khaki coloured velcro patch fitted across the top of the crown, on this in turn is attached a small black square piece of 'glint' tape. A 'Head-Loc' mounting rail has been attached to the each side of the helmet above each ear. On the rear of the helmet is a pair of AA battery packs for NVGs (not present). To the right of the NVG battery packs is a vertically mounted Infra Red (IR) strobe light. The inside of the helmet has adjustable and modular black padded liner. Six live AA size batteries were removed from the rear of the helmet and bagged separately.

History / Summary

This helmet was worn in combat on 11 June 2010 in the action for which Cpl Roberts-Smith was subsequently awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia.
