History / Summary
This British War Medal relates to the service of Alma Alberta McKnight, as nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) during the First World War.
Born in Patricks Plains near Singleton NSW in 1886. She joined the AANS in June 1917 in 1917. She embarked for overseas on 13 September 1917 from Melbourne onboard the HMAT Runic A54. Upon arrival in Egypt she was a staff member of the 44th Stationary Hospital at Kantara.
She returned to Australia in August 1919, and the following month was discharged from the AANS. She died in 1967.
