Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 8669 MT Driver Alister Bailey Grimes who served with the 1st Australian Field Ambulance and, later, the 1st Australian Divisional Mechanical Transport Company. Collection consists of a bound manuscript titled "Alister Bailey Grimes at War, Diary and Letters - 1915-1919", compiled by his son, Ken Grimes. The manuscript is dedicated to Alister Bailey Grimes and to his best friend Harry Gilmore Wilson, who did not return. Includes a transcription of MT Drv Grimes war diaries and letters written by Grimes and others between 1915 and 1919. The manuscript is illustrated with photographs and other related documents. Includes a A CD-ROM containing images, scanned pages and PDF files of documents relating to the service of Alister Bailey Grimes (8669) including a PDF file of the manuscript titled 'Alister Bailey Grimes at War, Diary & Letters - 1915-1919'.
