Allsopp, William Arthur (Sergeant, b.1918 - d.1942)
Description
Collection relating to 411063 Sergeant (Sgt) William Arthur (Bill) Allsopp, who as a member of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), served with 35 Squadron Royal Air Force (RAF) until his death in a flying battle over Germany on 26 July 1942. Comprises original letters written by Sgt Allsopp to his family whilst in the United Kingdom and Canada, and original official letters sent to his family after his flight was reported missing. Also includes one letter written in April 1941 by the Mayor of Tamworth, on behalf of the Tamworth Patriotic Committee, congratulating Allsop on enlisting for active service in the RAAF.
