Studio portrait of 1010 Cpl George Edgar Watkins (standing) and 991 Corporal (Cpl) Henry Joseph "Harry" Sennett, both 39th Battalion. Cpl Sennett's uniform jacket has been freshly pressed; Cpl Watkins' colour patch has been sewn on upside down. This photo was originally owned by Cpl Sennett (inscribed "Please keep this as a Curio. Do not give away to anyone. George Watkins and Self") and later passed on to Watkins, who inscribed it "Harry Sennett and Self. Harry was a True friend". Both Sennett and Watkins survived the war.
A photograph from the collection of 1010 Sergeant (Sgt) George Edgar Watkins DCM. Sgt Watkins, a painter from Blackburn, Victoria, enlisted on 10 February 1916. He served with the 39th Battalion throughout the war, as a Battalion scout in France and Belgium.
