MEMBERS OF 2/28 AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BATTALION ARE STRONGLY SUPPORTING THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER IN HIS VIGOROUS REBUTTAL OF A CLAIM IN THE LONDON "TIMES" THAT TIN HATS ARE NO LONGER NECESSARY. WX5093 CORPORAL ALBERT EDWARD DUGMORE IS SEEN WITH THE TIN HAT HE WAS WEARING WHEN IT RECEIVED AN AIR-BURST FROM A 88M.M. ANTI-AIRCRAFT/ ANTI-TANK GUN DURING THE ATTACKS BY 90 LIGHT DIVISION AND 164 PANZER GRENADIERS OF THE GERMAN ARMY ON THE POSITIONS OF 2/28 BATTALION NEAR THE BLOCKHOUSE, EL ALAMEIN, ON 1942-11-01 TO 1942-11-02. DUGMORE WAS LATER KILLED IN ACTION ON 20 OCTOBER 1943 IN NEW GUINEA.
