Mauser Model 1871 Carbine : Chinese Forces, Boxer Rebellion
Description
Mauser Model 1871 Carbine. Receiver marked F.v.Dreyse Sommerda M.1871 and the serial number. The stock is wood and there are four Chinese characters carved into the butt on the left side that translate as Tientsin. It is complete with a matching bolt number.
History / Summary
This carbine was brought home from the boxer rebellion by the late Gunner William Hearn. Gunner Hearn served in the Victorian Naval Brigade and was a member of the Victorian Contingent to China in 1900.
