British Pattern 1897 Infantry Officer Sword and Scabbard : Indian Army
Description
British Pattern 1897 Infantry Officer Sword. The hilt has a three quarter 'scroll' pattern pierced sheet steel guard with the GRI Royal cypher and a wire bound fishskin grip. The straight blade is plain with a single fuller on each side for half of the length. The ricasso is stamped with an arrow and ISD on the right and an arrow over I over 1915 on the left. The leather covered wooden scabbard has a metal chape and locket. The guard and scabbard mounts would originally have been nickel plated but they are presently badly rusted.
