Studio portrait of 3957 Private (Pte) Abel Henry Arford. A carter from Tamworth, NSW, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Runic (A54) with the 20th Battalion on 20 January 1916. Pte Arford was killed in action in France on 25 February 1917. He was 23 years old.
