Description
Portrait of 34944 Gunner (Gnr) Felix Louis Bloch, Field Artillery Brigade from Elwood, Victoria. A 19 year old engineer prior to enlisting on 17 January 1917, he embarked for overseas with the 27th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 9 November 1917 aboard HMAT Port Sydney (A15). After twelve months in Egypt, he embarked for the United Kingdom and then joined the 6th Australian Field Artillery Brigade in France in April 1918. After joining the 106th Battery, he was killed in action on 17 August 1918. Gnr Bloch was buried in the Ridgeway British Cemetery and then later reburied in the Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France.
