Sign posted in Armload, Papua, stating that the 2/15th Battalion drove the enemy from the village on 23 September 1943 and 2/17th Battalion occupied the Salamaua plantation from 1 October 1943 - 2 October 1943 as the enemy withdrew, following the capture of the Japanese positions near Karakoc. Both Battalions had previously been posted in the Middle East and were sent to Papua in August 1943.
