Description
Studio portrait of 1674 Private (Pte) Robert William Lewis, 2nd Reinforcements of the 52nd Battalion. Pte Lewis was a stock-rider from Calliope, Queensland, at the time of his enlistment in January 1916. He gave his age as 18 years 6 months when he enlisted, however this was an exaggeration. Killed in action at Mouquet Farm, France, on 3 September that same year, his mother would later state his age at time of death as only 18 years and 2 months.
