Description

Mine detonator circuit board switch. The circuit board is made from wood and features eight copper relays which act as a circuit breaker. The wooden switch handle is attached to two brackets which support the switch. To close the circuit, the switch is manually rotated through 180 degrees. The base of the switch is made from bakelite. On the base is attach a brass plaque. Engraved of the plaque is 'ONE OF THE THREE SWITCHES THROUGH WHICH THE CURRENT PASSED WHICH FIRED THE TWO HUGE MINES UNDER HILL 60 ON 7TH JUNE 1917 / PRESENTED TO THE IMPERIAL CLUB / SYDNEY / BY J.MACD. ROYLE, LIEUT / 1ST AUSTRALIAN TUNNELLING COMPANY'.
