Collection related to the service of 413394 John Maxwell Knight RAAF
Group portrait including 412977 Sergeant (Sgt) Michael Larkin (second from left), of Pagewood, Sydney, NSW. A clerk at the “Sun” newspaper prior to enlisting on 15 August 1941, he completed his initial training and progressed to the Advanced Training Course for pilots at No. 7 Service Flying Training School (7SFTS), RAAF Station Deniliquin, Australia. Early in 1943, he went to Canada for further training under the Empire Training Scheme (EATS) in Canada at No 1 General Reconnaisance School (GRS) Summerside, Prince Edward Island. From Canada, he transferred to England and was attached to the RAF. On 13 January 1945, Flying Officer (FO) Larkin was killed in an accident while a member of No. 1 Ferry Unit RAF. He is buried in the Haycombe Cemetery, Bath, Somerset, England, United Kingdom. He was 22 Years of age.
