Informal portrait of Sister Catherine Temby "Kate" Uren (left) and Sister Amelia "Mill" Uren (right), twin sisters from Adelaide who served together as Staff Nurses with the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) during the First World War. Both sisters embarked from Melbourne on 17 July 1915 aboard HMAT Orsova (A67). They worked together at the Convalescent Depot, Harefield Park, London and then as Sea Transport staff from 23 June 1917. Their sister, Ethelda Uren also served with the AANS during the First World War.
