Informal portrait of NX37973 Private (Pte) James William Bailey. Pte Bailey enlisted on 4 July 1941 with 2/12 Field Ambulance in Annandale, NSW. He was taken prisoner of war (POW) of the Japanese while stationed with Sparrow Force in Ambon. Pte Bailey died at sea whilst a POW aboard the Tamahoko Maru which was torpedoed by USS Tang on 24 June 1944.
