Studio portrait of NF409990 (NF481405) Private (Pte) Joan Marjorie Hadfield (nee Ellis) of Bronte, NSW, wearing an Australian Womens Army Service (AWAS) shoulder badge and the colour patch of the Australian Defence Canteens Service. Pte Hadfied enlisted on 18 July 1942, and was serving with the Land Headquarters (LHQ) School of Artillery (A/A) when she discharged on 13 December 1944. She re-enlisted on 13 February 1945 and served with the AWAS until 30 October 1945. Pte Hadfield's service medals are held at the Australian War Memorial.
