Description
One part of a six piece installation work reflecting on the 1988 Halabja poison gas attacks in Southern Kurdistan. This attack on the Kurdish people in the north-east of Iraq was executed by Iraqi despot Saddam Hussein and resulted in the deaths of around five thousand people. Many thousands more suffered from deforming injuries, and an increased rate of birth defects in the region is an ongoing testament to the genocide.
This part of the work is a large-scale print, taken from a journalist's photograph of the attacks. It depicts a man running across the frame. His movement has distorted his figure in the bleak, shadowy landscape.
