Arisaka Type 38 Rifle
Description
Arisaka Type 38 Rifle. Blued steel action and polished bolt that has a knurled cocking knob. Full wood stock and top handguard. The receiver top is marked with a chrysanthemum (ground off) over three Japanese characters (Type 38) and on the left side the Kokura arsenal mark and serial number. It is fitted with a cleaning rod. The stock is bruised overall and the butt is cracked along the join.
History / Summary
The Arisaka Type 38 Rifle was designed in 1905 as a result of the experience gained in the Russo-Japanese War. It has many features of the Mauser G98 action and was one of the standard weapons of the Japanese Army during the Second World War. Provenance unknown.
