Formal portrait of NX55430 Private (Pte) George Norman Harding, 2/19 Battalion, of Victoria Park, WA. Pte Harding became a prisoner of war following the fall of Singapore to the Japanese on 15 February 1942. He was initially imprisoned in Changi prisoner of war camp, and then allocated to a work party in Thailand. Pte Harding died of illness in Thailand on 5 October 1943. He was 34 years of age.
