A collection of grenades used at Gallipoli. Original caption reads: "Various types of bombs used in trench fighting and by night patrols in the gullies where scrub hampers the use of the rifle at night. Commencing from left to right. Pitcher Bomb. Mills Bomb - the finest of all. I brought two of these down from the Peninsula and would like to send to you, they will do as paperweights. Jam tin Bomb. Flare - for use at night to light up a given area of ground. Cricket ball Bomb. The bombs are set out on a case they are packed in."
From a collection relating to the service of Captain Piero Fiaschi, Australian Army Medical Corps, (later Lieutenant-Colonel, OBE), serving with the 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance in Egypt and as Regimental Medical Officer with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment at Gallipoli.
