Studio portrait of 3133 Private (later Corporal) Percy William Wintle, 56th Battalion, of Mosman, NSW (originally of Bristol, England). Pte Wintle enlisted with the 4th Battalion in July 1915 and transferred to the 56th Battalion in February 1916. In April 1918 he was received a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was evacuated to hospital in England. While in England he contracted influenza, and, after recovery was repatriated to Australia and discharged.
