Description

Small collapsible pigeon basket intended to carry up to four birds. The basket has a masonite base and wooden frame. The corners and sides are reinforced with galvanised steel metal strips held in place by small nails. The hinge at the bottom of each side is held in place by three screws. The sides have open bars along the centre to allow the birds to see out, feed and drink. The basket is lined with hessian from the base to the bottom of the open bars. The sides are held in place by a single leather strap at the centre top which threads into the lid. The lid is further secured to the body of the basket by two leather straps at the front and three at the back. The top has a bamboo wicker-bound carrying handle in front of which is a wire-bound wicker trap door to allow the birds to be removed. There are two white metal D rings at the bottom front of the basket to allow a galvanised feeding/drinking trough (340mm long, 100mm wide and 60mm deep) to be attached as required
