Description
A depiction of the Australian response to the two referenda initiated by then Prime Minister William Hughes to test Australia's committment to conscription. The referenda were held in 1916 and then in the following year in 1917. This series of pen and ink sketches presents the polarising issue of conscription in Australia at that time.
