Studio portrait of 5162 Private (Pte) Alfred Alexander Priest, 6th Battalion. A farm labourer from Woodvale, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Priest embarked with the 16th Reinforcements, from Melbourne on HMAT Suffolk on 1 April 1916. After twice being wounded in action, he was promoted to Lance Corporal and, after being wounded for the third time, he succumbed to these wounds and died on 27 May 1918, aged 24. He was buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
