Blue Bonnets over the border, Palestine
Description
Depicts a column of 52nd Division troops marching into Palestine with a military band playing bagpipes and drums at the foot of the Herodian colum. The band are most probably playing the march, 'Blue Bonnets over the border', which was a traditional Scottish ballad written by Sir Walter Scott in the very early 19th century, as a rousing border marching song. The ballad later became a regimental march of the British Army.
