Unser Fuhrer
Description
A plaster in a rectangle shape painted with metallic silver. Completed in low relief, it depicts a profile portrait of Adolf Hitler. Under the portrait are the words 'Unser Fuhrer', also in low relief. A metal hanging ring has been inserted at the top of the plaque. This plaque was obtained from an internee at the No. 1 Internment Camp, Tatura, Victoria. Each inmate had the plaque at the head of his bed. At the end of hositilities, security guards came through the dormitories and smashed each plaque. The donor of this work hid his in his bed roll.
