Flag : Republic of South Korea
Description
Printed cotton flag of the Republic of South Korea with cotton ties at each corner of the hoist. The white field represents peace and purity. The ying and yang symbol in the centre represents the opposing forces of nature, such as male/female, sky/earth or summer/winter. Similar meanings can be attributed to the four trigrams (kwae) in the corners of the flag, such as the four seasons, or opposing points of the compass.
History / Summary
This flag was acquired during the Korean War by an unknown Australian serviceman.
