History / Summary
This button was originally sewn to the scarlet tunic of the 2nd New South Wales Infantry Regiment (REL/02597.001). It was removed from the tunic and replaced with buttons of a later period and the correct colour (silver) to match the tunic which was made in 1887. Only permanent and partially paid members of the NSW Military Forces wore gold coloured buttons and lace.
